My expectations for fourth year are to have a lot of fun and to have a lot of exciting experiences. I would like to become a lot closer with my year group and get to know people I wouldn’t really talk to. I also want to try new things I wouldn’t usually do and make the most out of the year so that when I look back at the end of the year I don’t want to regret not doing things and wasting time. I want to try and participate in most things around the school and to try help out as much as I can inside and outside of school. Many people have said that if you don’t keep yourself busy in transition year you will end up being bored so my plan for the year is to make the most of the year because I don’t want to be sitting in fifth or sixth year regretting wasting time when I don’t have time to do anything anymore.
Speech
Today I’m going to be talking about my opinion on the name the school St.Gerards has. To this day Gerards has this reputation that whoever goes there are “stuck up, rich, think their great and better then others” I think thst this is not the right reputation for people to have if they attend the school. My experience with people in Gerards has only ever been good I have never felt that the pupils are any of those things. Yes, maybe the school has a lot more facilities and may be abit bigger than other schools but does that make the kids stuck up ? The children that attend Gerards are the exact same as any other children in any other school. Im my opinion if the school itself has that sort of name then I don’t think it is fair for it to be given for the children because their family/parents chose Gerards as a school for their kids to go to. I think that if the people who said those things came in and spent a couple of days or a week they would realise that what they are saying is wrong. To conclude my speech I would like to say that this situation is quite like the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” I feel that people are judging the pupils because of how much it costs to go to Gerards and not actually getting to know the people first.
